This week I ran two new courses for The Fabbadashery, in the morning we had ‘Hand Embroidery’ , and in the afternoon ‘3D Hooked and Prodded Flowers’.
As usual everyone was very enthusiastic and we had some amazing results.
Half of the group were working on stitch samplers. We divided the fabric into a grid of 25 squares and began working a different stitch in each square.
Some lovely results were obtained, plus confidence in using a wider variety of stitches in pieces worked.
The other half of the group worked on ‘Cottage Garden’ or Meadow Flowers’ pictures. These were worked by laying down organza, net and chiffon fabrics onto the linen background before stitching over the top to create flowers and foliage using embroidery stitches.
The afternoon session was just as productive. Using traditional rag rugging techniques, but with a few changes in the way the fabric is cut and manipulated, we created some beautiful 3D flowers.
