Back on track again, hopefully, so I have a bit of catching up to do !
So, Creative Metal Thread Embroidery at The Fabbadashery – lovely day doing what I love doing most – Goldwork, but with a more creative/contemporary twist, and using more unusual materials. Here’s what the tables looked like ….
and here are some of the pieces of work by the end of the day, firstly Cath’s underwater scene ….
Alison’s piece of creative work …
Ella got chance to do some stitching today and started this lovely tree …
Helen managed to complete the piece on the right in subtle shades of pink, and actually started a second piece in blue to continue working on at home ….
Nicola, as ever, sent me a picture of her framed work the following day ! ….
The following week I ran a course I called ‘Beach huts and Cupcakes’, using applique, lace, buttons and stitch to create pictures. Here are some of them, all works in progress as usual …
….this was Beckie’s, she didn’t get as far as the others as she was too busy making tea and washing up !!
Here is Gillian’s piece finished ….
…. lovely !
Last week was a very busy one, starting with Locker Hooking at the shop. This is another recycling rag rugging technique which can be done using either lighter weight fabrics than those which would be used for traditional rag rugs, or using a combination of wool/synthetic/decorative yarns. Everyone started by making a coaster, then moving on to a larger project…..
I had three courses at home this week. Firstly, Mel and her crew came over from Hull. They wanted to continue with the Crazy Patchwork technique which they had done on a previous session. They all started new projects, including Janet’s cushion which incorporated her family tartan …
Wendy and Margaret decided to make bags …
The weather was so nice we were able to have our lunch outside !…..
but I think my friend Janet probably regretted saying she’d come to help !!
Oh dear, I’ll be in so much trouble for that !!
The second group who came here this week were Ruth and her craft group from Scarborough. Most of them chose to do Wool on Wool Applique ….
Rachel also experimented with the embellisher machine to make this lovely ladybird …
Liz chose to do Stumpwork, but the following picture shows her doing the most important job of the day !!
Ruth also brought with her another project she has recently completed, a Crazy Patchwork cushion with Suffolk Puff embellishments ….
and Anne brought a stunning silk shading picture she has worked of her dog …
The final course I have held this week was for Lily, aged 11, and her Mum Maxine. Lily wanted to learn to make Crazy Creatures. Despite having never really used a sewing machine she very quickly mastered the technique.
By the end of the day she had completed two very crazy creatures, called Watson and Flopsy, and was already planning what she wants to do when she comes again !
So, a busy few weeks I’m sure you’ll agree ! Just a couple of pictures which people have sent me recently to finish off with, firstly Sally-Anne in Pendle has made a beautiful Crazy Patchwork wedding cushion, very special !
… and Sue, who I went to the Embroiderer’s Guild Summer School with has finished her butterfly !….
… absolutely amazing ! Mine, unfortunately, has so far only got one wing and a body, I will post a picture when he’s completed !
Finally, I must say thankyou to my niece Hannah who has been helping me out with my courses over the summer – I think she’s looking forward to going back to school for a rest !
